Herbs For Chakra Healing

Our chakra centers cultivate a body-mind-spirit connection. We can move bocks and regulate these centers through the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. As an herb lover myself, I wanted to share a few of my favorite ways to work on the chakras through the nervous system, organs, and digestive tract. You will learn what herbs generate a stronger mind-body connection, unblock subconscious patterns, support your digestion and drainage pathways, reduce anxiety and inflammation, and surrender the unknown.

How To Implement Healing Herbs

Plants, flowers, and herbs can easily be implemented in your afternoon tea through a bodypack supplement, lozenge, for magickal purposes, and aromatherapy. If you can have an indoor garden and manage not to kill every plant you bring home, you might want to try potting some of your own herbs. But just know that some of the herbs I’m going to list below are extremely sensitive and don’t like to comingle with prescription medication, some like to be taken with food, and some want to be as far away from a meal as possible. It’s important to discuss any herb you want to implement with your family naturopath. That being said, If you are limited as to what you can use in this list, reach out to me. We can work on different methods of healing through energy work or hypnotherapy

The Root Chakra (Muladhara)

These herbs heal imbalances that you may be struggling with within the Root Chakra and are beneficial for grounding + stability + security:

  • Ashwagandha relieves stress, depression, and anxiety and aids in healthy. It’s the promoter of energy and nervous system regulation. This adaptogen is a must-have, trust me. I’ve had it fully stocked on my supplement cabinet since 2015. It always helps ground me and bring me back to center.

  • Burdock root removes toxins from the blood, protects cells in the body from damage due to free radicals, and is a natural anti-inflammatory. It opens the drainage pathways and gently moves stagnant fluids out of the body. We need healthy draining pathways to eliminate toxins. If you are having a hard time releasing, this may be a good one for you.

  • Ginger Root supports the lymphatic system allowing you to break down any build-up toxins in the orangs. It also acts as a natural pain killer and promotes healthy digestion.

The Sacral Chakra (Swadhisthana)

The following herbs work to generate healthy chi + emotional stability + creative energy in the Sacral Chakra.

  • Calendula is used in visionary work through meditation and placed under a pillow to have prophetic dreams. This herb improves complexion and allows the skin to regenerate fast.

  • Hibiscus enhances libido and boosts insulin resistance.

  • Damiana aids in menstrual disorders and constipation and helps with anxiety and depression. I personally smoke this herb to activate my parasympathetic nerve and relax my body.

  • Cinnamon works as a natural anti-fungal and antibacterial and is metaphysically used in sex and money magick.

The Solar Chakra (Manipura)

Looking to step into your power + nurture your authenticity? These Herbs can help generate the self-esteem you’ve been cultivating!

  • Mint is your gut’s best friend if you’re sensitive to ginger. It soothes the stomach as well as reduces stress!

  • Marshmallow promotes release. If you feel the need to control everything and have a hard time surrendering, marshmallow can release blocks that are holding on for dear life.

  • Lemongrass is a clarifying herb that boosts self-esteem and reduces mild depression. It is often used for deepening the spiritual connection with the ethers, opening yourself up to loving communication both with yourself and others.

The Heart Chakra (Anahata)

The following herbs are heart openers, allowing room for compassion + forgiveness in your heart center. These herbs and spices can energize and heal any imbalances in the Heart Chakra and are beneficial for the mind + body:

  • Rose tea is my favorite heart opener. It helps me drop into a place of love and compassion. It’s also a great source of vitamin C and is often used for toning aging skin.

  • Thyme fights germs, improves dopamine and serotonin levels, and attracts faeries. Yep, I know. This is one that I keep on my altar and use in smudge sticks when I am practicing Magick.

The Throat Chakra (Vishudda)

These herbs promote connection + truth + communication in the Throat Chakra.

  • Red Clover works to open up the doors of communication so that you feel free to share your truth and openly share your feelings with those around you.

  • Chamomile wards off negative energy, relax the mind and allows the body to release chronic tension when you aren’t speaking up for yourself or listening to the truth of others.

The Brow Chakra (Ajna)

Looking to enchase your psychic ability + and connection? Look no further!

  • Eyebright illuminates the lessons and opportunities that life has to give you. It allows you to see the world with a broader lens and discover a new perspective.

  • Mugwort can be smoked or used in tea. It enhances psychic abilities and protects you from those who energetically wish to do you harm.

  • Lavender increases theta brain waves, inducing relaxation and reducing inflammation. It is also used for purification and love in magickal practices.

The Crown Chakra (Sahasrara)

The following herbs promote oneness + universal exploration for anyone looking to deepen their connection to the ethers.

  • Blue Lotus Flower, native to the edges of the Nile, symbolizes spiritual enlightenment and enhances spiritual connection.

  • Sage is used for clarity, clairvoyance, psychic abilities, and to induce trance. It promotes mental clarity, cleanses negative energy, and grounds your energy into mother earth for a clear connection to the spiritual realm.
