How To Practice Energy Healing On Yourself

Folks will tell you that you need training in a specific energy healing art or a certification attunement in order for healing energy to run through you; I consider this to be a lack of what exactly energy is and how it's moved. Whatever the mind can conceive, the mind can achieve, this is a famous saying by the late Napoleon Hill, and I believe it to be true. Energy therapy is not just for those with the money and means to get accredited in a specific modality that unblocks the flow of energy because every single thing in this universe is made of energy. 

So what is energy healing; in the most basic sense? It is a process of aligning and restoring the energy body to its natural state of harmony. It kickstarts the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing the body to relax and heal wounds, illnesses, or an imbalance. 

Tuning into your energy body is an intentional practice, and with practice, you will be able to drop into your senses and connect easily and effortlessly. So, how do you practice energy healing on yourself? Let me share a few of my favorite ways! 

Different Ways To Practice Energy Healing

Connect with your breath: 

One of the simplest and most effective ways to connect with your energy is through breath. Begin breathing deeply into your diaphragm. As though there is a balloon in your belly that expands down low, then slowly expands your rib cage. This process is called diaphragmatic breathing. Rather than breathing into your shoulders or chest, you are breathing into your pelvic floor. Allowing oxygen to move through every organ and nerve root with you. When practicing this breathing technique, tap into your energy. As you inhale, feel your body fill with life-force energy; as you exhale, release any tension or stress lingering in the body. 

Tune into your heart space: 

The heart is the physical place in our body where most folks feel love, gratitude, and joy. It's also the place of the heart Chakra. By tuning into your heart, you focus on opening up your ability to feel compassion, forgiveness, love, and peace. Begin by placing your hands over your heart and take a few deep diaphragmatic breaths. As you breathe, imagine your heart opening up and filling with light. Allowing that light to move through your whole body and allowing your body to express these powerful emotions in any way that feels good. Maybe you raise the corners of your mouth, begin to sway your body, or choose to laugh.

Visualize a golden light: 

The powerful outcome of visualization is truly magickal. Take some time to sit and relax. Set up an environment that cultivates a sense of peace around you, and when you are ready, begin to visualize a golden light all around you. This golden light represents pure, healing energy. Imagine this light shining on you from above and surrounding your entire body and energetic field until you feel it running through every cell of your DNA.

Compost any energy that does not belong to you or is not for your highest good: 

My favorite way is to include connecting with the natural elements is my favorite way to compost energy. One way to compost energy after a long day or after spending time with family is to wash it away with water. You can do this in the shower or bath; you can also do it in your kitchen sick by imagining a dark ball of energy in your hands as you allow it to all come up and out of your energy field as you wash it away. You can also get a ceramic bowl or vase that has a lid and fill it with water so that whenever you need to clear your energy, you can place your hands over the container with the lid off and contain all the energy you want to compost into the vessel. When you are done, put the top back on, and once a week, place the water into the earth, asking mother Gaia to recycle it into something beautiful. You can also clear your energy by placing your bare feet into the soil, hugging a tree, and standing in a river. There isn't "one right way" to do this. So feel into what resonates; remember, your intention is the most important thing. Be mindful in your energy practices and allow your full awareness to be a part of the magick. 

What does energy healing feel like?

When energy is properly flowing through the body, you can expect to feel shifts occur. These shifts look and feel different for everyone. Some folks describe it as relaxing, warm, and physically pleasant, while others see colors and shapes. The experience is always pleasant and allows the body the space and time to regenerate and align back into harmony.
