Welcoming the Autumn Equinox

Also called the Fall Equinox or Mabon, this is a time for restructuring and reprioritizing our needs. As we leave summer behind, we transition into a time of release. These next 3 months are essential for harvesting all the seeds you have planted at the beginning of the year and taking a hard look at the harvest. This can be taken figuratively and metaphorically. Perhaps earlier this year, you started a new project or began a journey to self-healing and awareness, or maybe you have vegetables to yield that will nourish for the upcoming winter months. Whatever you have been working towards, this is the time to acknowledge your efforts and take stock of what’s working and what isn’t.

  • Have you been able to manifest what you desired and have worked so hard for?

  • If not, what adjustments need to be made in order for you to succeed?

  • How can releasing what no longer serves you benefit you in the future?

  • What lessons have you learned as you move into a time of reflection?

Spiritually speaking, the four planetary positions of the year (Winter Solstice, Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, and Autumn Equinox) represent different points in a personal journey. These seasonal changes not only affect the weather, agriculture, human consciousness, and emotional regulation, they also affect how we live our everyday lives. With longer days in the summer and shorter days in the winter, we are given the opportunity to flow with the seasons and look more closely at the yearly cycle of our lives.

With Autumn quickly approaching, we begin a stage of transition. Fall represents the light and darkness in our lives. It’s a time to slow down and take stock in everything we have worked for in the last 3 months and release that which no longer serves us to make room for more in our lives energetically. This is also true as we move into Mercury retrograde on the 27th. Take this time to reevaluate your needs, finish up old projects, surrender to slowing down and take stock of what YOU NEED to heal. After all the light that summer provided, it is time to return to balance and invite in the darkness. Sit with your emotions and see where healing can take place.

I know this may be difficult, but we find healing by diving into emotional wounds and areas of energetic blocks. Our darker emotions can be confusing, irrational, and just downright difficult, but with the darkness comes an opportunity to heal what has been hidden away, making room for emotional intelligence and self-compassion.

Remember, nothing is permanent; Autumn shows us this by the changing leaves and darkening days. We move away from limitless summer days of 14+ hours of light to embracing uncertainty and the challenges the darkness brings.
